Home Efficiency Rebate Plus (HER+) Program
Starting July 15th, 2024, the HER+ program is being relaunched with enhanced benefits and options to better serve Ontario homeowners. This initiative is co-delivered by Natural Resources Canada and Enbridge Gas, now offering more substantial rebates for various home efficiency upgrades.
The relaunched Home Efficiency Rebate Plus program, effective from July 15th, offers increased rebates up to $5,000, including a $600 audit reimbursement, and requires at least 2 upgrades. Heat pumps, window replacements, and other energy-efficient installations are supported, with a focus on flexibility and significant incentives for both primary and secondary homes.
Key highlights include mandatory first and final audits, a 120-day completion window for upgrades, and the issuance of incentive cheques in January 2025. Rental of equipment is allowed, and specific upgrades like insulation improvements are detailed in the program's terms.
What's new for the HER+ program?
The Home Efficiency Rebate Plus simplifies available rebates into two offerings:
- Rebate Package A offering up to $10,000 in rebates for homeowners who are Enbridge customers.
- Rebate Package B offering up to $5,000 in rebates for homeowners who are not Enbridge customers.
Regardless of which package you qualify for, the rebates have been updated to reflect the new program standards and eligibility criteria, allowing more Ontarians to benefit from the program.
The following do not qualify for the HER+ program:
- Homes where the owner is not the primary resident and do not have an active Enbridge Gas account.
- Homes built less than 6 months ago.
- Cooperatives.
- Some mixed-use buildings and MURBs, with details available on the Enbridge Gas website.
