DRILL AND FILL INSULATION
There are two different products that can we use for Drill and Fill Insulation. The first product is the same type of insulation that you would install into your typical attic “cellulose.” The second being 1-lb open-cell pourable foam, both are CCMC certified products and are safe to be installed into residential homes.
When it comes to the cellulose version of drill and fill, this is what you can expect is:
- Our crews will cover over any personal belongings that are in the vicinity.
- Approximately 2-4 holes per cavity with the holes being approximately 2” in size.
- Settling of dust, our crews will work as diligently as possible however as this is a dusty product to begin with and the plaster from the drilling becomes airborne it is next to impossible to get it all.
- Our crew will plug and patch the holes with sheetrock 90 once the job is completed.
- Overall comfort will improve, sound reduction and utility costs will reduce.
- There is some pressure that does form inside of the cavity and there is a possibility of stress cracks, etc.
- Over time there could be some settling of the insulation at the top off the wall as this is a loose product.
WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU
When our crews arrive, we need to have all furniture on the walls that we are installing to be at least 5 feet from the wall, any pictures, shelves or wall hangings removed from the wall (this should be completed prior to our crews showing up). The furnace turned off to reduce the spread of the dust from the application. Someone to be onsite to go over the work with and so that if you or our crew have any questions that they be asked and answered.
When it comes to the 1-lb pourable foam, this is what you can expect:
- Our crews will cover over any personal belongings that are in the vicinity.
- Approximately 3-8 holes per cavity (the smaller the cavity the more holes).
- Settling of dust, our crews will work as diligently as possible however as this is a dusty product to begin with and the plaster from the drilling becomes airborne it is next to impossible to get it all.
- Our crew will patch the holes with sheetrock 90 once the job is completed.
- Overall comfort will improve, sound reduction and utility costs will reduce.
- There is some pressure that does form inside of the cavity and there is a possibility of stress cracks, etc.
- Once the work has been completed, our crew will go over the walls to ensure that there are no missed areas with our FLIR Thermal Imaging Camera, we are able to find every area that was potentially missed. Once all of these areas have been addressed, our crew will take down and coverings installed to reduce dust and dispose of them. If necessary the crew will vacuum the floors.
- Our product expands approximately 80 TIMES its original size, this allows the product when installed, to find every nook and cranny to be able to give your home a complete seal!
